EV road trips in Australia

Australia's main highways now have fast chargers every 50–100 km on most routes, so most EVs can do the big interstate trips with a few short stops. Pick a trip to see every charging stop, the longest gap, and whether your car can make it.

How we plan the trips

Common questions

Can you drive an EV interstate in Australia?

Yes. The Hume, Pacific, Western and Bruce highways all have fast chargers along them, and most EVs can do Sydney to Melbourne or Sydney to Brisbane with two or three short stops.

How far apart are EV chargers on Australian highways?

On the main east coast routes, usually 30–100 km. The longest gaps are in regional Queensland and South Australia, where they can reach 100–170 km.
